Virgin. Non-alcoholic. Mocktails are the newest name for an increasingly critical menu component - the mixed drink without the booze.

One-quarter of consumers in a Datassential study last year said they planned to drink less, and a growing number of others are taking part in alcohol-free challenges like Dry January. But that doesn’t mean these temporary teetotalers want to feel like they're missing out on the camaraderie and socializing that so often comes with friends grabbing a few drinks.

Mocktails are often more than just a fancy juice - they’re increasingly complex, with herbal notes and flavorful syrups that offer the taste of a real cocktail without the booze. Some are even infused with functional ingredients like rishi mushrooms, ashwagandha and more.
