This week, we covered the increased restrictions on most states across the country including the shuttering of dine-in operations in 41 California counties that had opened, a lockdown order for the city of Chicago and a curfew in New York City.
The U.S. saw a massive spike in coronavirus cases, reaching 11 million confirmed cases at the beginning of the week, with two cities reporting over 1 million infections since the beginning of the pandemic. In response, cities across the country began closing indoor dining as initial measures. President-elect Joe Biden's coronavirus task force doctors have publically said that a four-to-six week complete lockdown could help ease the country's suffering.
Two vaccine trials published reports showing over 90% positivity rates and leading infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said that there could be a vaccine for everyone by April 2021.
The Naational Restaurant Association this week sent a letter to U.S. govenors accusing them of using the restaurant industry as a "convienent scaptgoat" for the rise in COVID cases This came after a study from Stanford University was released that called indoor dining a "COVID superspreader event."
