The celebration of Cinco de Mayo originates from the Mexican Army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Today, the holiday has become a cultural phenomenon extending beyond Mexico into the U.S., where people customarily enjoy margaritas and throw parties each year.
