Move comes as growing parent of Uchi and Loro concepts expands in Texas and Miami
The growing Hai Hospitality group has named Gregory Shepard to the newly created role of chief people officer, the Austin, Texas-based company said Wednesday.
Hai Hospitality is known for concept such as Uchi, Uchiko, Uchibā and Loro, and the group has been growing to the Dallas, Houston and Miami markets following an investment last year by private-equity firm KSL Capital Partners.
Shepard spent the past two decades in hospitality leadership positions in Texas, including work with brands such as Raising Cane’s, Chili’s, On the Border and Dave & Buster’s. He served most recently as senior vice president of people for iFly.
“Gregory has such a fantastic grasp of what makes a brand’s internal culture great,” said Hai Hospitality CEO Tony Montero, in a statement. “We’re excited to bring him on board to champion our team from within and help us shape Hai Hospitality’s future.”
In his new role, Shepard will work with Hai leadership to strengthen and optimize the brand’s culture, organizational structure and people strategy.
