Which sandwich would you pick?• See all Best Sandwiches in America winners
June 10, 2013
We crowned the 12 Best Sandwiches in America. Now we’re asking you to do the heavy lifting and pick an ultimate winner. Which of these 12 sandwiches would you put on your menu? Which makes your stomach growl?
Is it the Farm-to-Table Wagyu Burger, with seared pork belly, or the Scrambled Egg & Chorizo Breakfast Sandwich made simply, but beautifully with barely more than three ingredients? If chicken is your thing, we’ve got the Wood-Fired Rotisserie Chicken Sandwich with house-made paneer cheese. Want something a little less daunting? Try the Beef Tsukune Slider, combining an all-American hot dog with a Japanese dumpling dish.
A sandwich contest would be nothing without an option named after a 315-pound football player. The Yandawich fills that need, combining a pork tenderloin with a poached oyster salad and a Guinness stout mustard. Looking for something a little lighter? Try the Crispy Eggplant, our vegetarian winner, featuring creamy buratta and a roasted garlic white bean hummus. The Turkey Melt sounds simple, but when you make it with Gruyere cheese, sautéed spinach with truffle oil and more, it’s not. The Hog, on the other hand, is just a simply good sub, with chorizo, brisket, pork butt, barbecue sauce and mozzarella.
We didn’t forget seafood. How could we with options like a Black and Bleu Tuna with a house-made blackberry wasabi sauce, or a Lobster Roll served in a roll blackened with Japanese charcoal? Last, and certainly not least, are the Crab-Grilled Cheese and the Ham Blueberry Deli Sandwich, whose names tell you all you need to know about the unique ingredients that separate them from their competition.
Check out all 12 winners, as well as the honorable-mention selections that just missed the glory.
