Renowned French chef Roland Passot, who has been a fixture in the San Francisco area with his highly regarded la Folie and Left Bank Brasserie, has now jumped on the steak bandwagon. His version, of course, has a French twist. He recently opened LB Steak in San Jose, CA. “Creating a modern French take on the American steakhouse is something I have always wanted to do,” he said.
Unlike traditional steakhouses, LB Steak offers a lighter, accessible lunch menu that includes sandwiches, pastas, salads, burgers, seafood and vegetarian dishes. But steak is king on the dinner menu and the star of the show are prime cuts of beef and Chef Passot’s signature appetizer, escargot-bone marrow gratin.
LB Steak seats 120 inside and 60 on a terrace. The interior also features a communal table with cowhide chairs. Other décor elements include lithographs depicting the erection of the Eiffel Tower and whimsical “steak-art” cow portraits.
