What the Judges Said: It’s not often we go into a bar and say, “I’ll have an El Presidente, please.” With that said, we do understand why it’s a classic sip. Nevertheless, we love what Ms. Nader has done here. Replacing traditional rum with a world-class version from Martinique is a serious step up, but her most interesting move is using high-quality apricot liqueur rather than the customary orange curacao. In doing so, she succeeds in removing some stuffiness from a revolutionary cocktail. Would Fidel approve? Who cares?
