Have you created a local favorite for your menu? You might want to share your recipe for a chance to win a 40,000 Grand Prize in the second annual Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest sponsored by General Mills Foodservice.
Foodservice operators, chefs and line cooks at independent commercial restaurants are invited to enter their recipes. Amanda Freitag, celebrity chef of the Food Network’s Chopped and American Diner Revival, is back for the second year as the contest’s official host.
What are the stakes? The Grand Prize is $40,000 plus a $10,000 donation for a local charity. The First Place Recipe Winner receives $15,000 and the Second Place prize is $10,000. Six Category Winners, announced in early June, will receive a contest prize package. From these six, three finalists will be selected to travel to General Mills headquarters in Minneapolis for the Grand Prize Winner announcement and a day of celebration and culinary inspiration with Chef Amanda Freitag.
Open to independent family or neighborhood restaurants, entrants can share an original recipe from now through February 29, 2016. Recipes will be judged on taste, appearance, creativity and foodservice viability. Each entry should incorporate at least one General Mills ingredient from a list of eligible products, including Pillsbury biscuits or puff pastry, Gold Medal baking mixes and Yoplait yogurt. For each recipe submission, entrants can receive a $20 rebate, up to a maximum of one rebate per participating brand during the entry period.
